African Village is an international network for Africans, and any individuals and entity interested in the African Culture.
We foster cultural exchange, intercultural dialogue, networking and cooperation. We complement the integration efforts of the African Diaspora in Denmark.
Our activities are centered around the three axes below:
We promote and value the African Culture in Danmark.
We serve as an umbrella organization for African embassies and associations to promote the culture of their respective country.
We enable dialogue and cooperation between African embassies and associations, and Danish local authorities.
We serve as a platform for members of the African diaspora including refugees, to network, promotes themselves, build relationship with local citizens.
Our activities are managed by members of the African Diaspora and refugees.
AFRICAN VILLAGE, former Gladsaxe African Village was established in 2015, by a team of powerful women, all from the same family. Charlotte Kobli, the mother got an idea to organise a culinary event in Gladsaxe Municipality.
Sara Kobli, daughter then took the idea to a whole new level. She established an organization instead with a mission and vision, defined a set of activities and established partnerships with local instutions, various african communities and Embassies, in order to implement them.
Marie Candy and Danielle, gave a visual identity to the organization. And finally, Rachel and Ruth contributed with artistic performances.
Our first event - the African Village annual Festival - took place in August 2015. From that day forward, the organization became an incontestable platform for the promotion of the African culture, cultural exchange and integration.
